1978 Skookum. Pacific northwest built boat. 20 kw northern lights generator. Recent Sails. Refit in 2020 with TONS of new parts

The Skookum 53 is a commercial fishing vessel with a federal permit. She is fiberglass hull constructed finished by Elmag Co. Alaska. Main propulsion is a single Detroit Diesel 471 4-cyl. engine. Twin Disc MG-506 2.96:1 gear. New shaft & cutlass bearing in 2020. Wagner steering and Teleflex controls. Simrad autopilot. 35" x 24" 3-blade bronze propeller. 2" stainless steel shaft. Northern Lights genset, 30 amp shore power.

Rigged for offshore trolling for tuna, and swordfish. She is a stable platform with a spacious foredeck, wide side decks, ample cockpit with fish hold access. Salon entrance from cockpit with a day head located to port and galley to starboard. The dinette is on port with cloth-covered cushions ready for replacement.

Centerline helm with exit doors to port & starboard side decks. Three steps down to port stateroom double with engine room access & cedar closet. Head with shower and direct discharge toilet. Upper & lower exposed bunks on starboard, V-berth area used for storage, easily converted for sleeping.

Ketch rigged with heavy gauge aluminum masts and outrigger booms. 12V DC mizzen boom winch. Roller furling jib. Recent sail replacement. Mainsail mandrill is broken. Various halyard and sheet winches.
37' aluminum outrigger.

This boat packs 10,000 lbs of Albacore in the aft insulated fish hold.

Electronics: VHF, Furuno 36 mile radar, GPS, depth gauge, fish finder, Wagoner autopilot, McGregor VMI battery charger, spotlight.

Unvarnished mahogany interior finish with teak and holly sole. Dickinson Atlantic stove. Sleeps (4) in (2) staterooms: A queen to port and (2) singles on starboard. Head with sink and shower. EPIRB good through 2022. Zodiac 4-person A pack. 1500 gallon fuel in fiberglass tanks. 1200 gallon water in (2) fiberglass tanks.

ConditionThe seller reports the cutlass bearing and propeller shaft, auto pilot pump and hydraulic hoses, and anchor windlass control pump were recently replaced. The bottom was soda blasted in 2018 and 3 coats of barrier paint has been applied along with antifouling paint. Other recent updates include: Racor fuel filter and gauges, 1000 watt inverter, water heater and pump, VHF radio and antennas, fire extinguishers, alarms and pumps, wiring thru out the boat, toilet, convection oven, refrigerator with freezer, DC LED lights throughout the boat, and new lines for the sails.
