Likely the nicest classic Trojan in North America . Covered slip her entire life. 400 original hours. High integrity vessel, in regular use by current owner. Appropriately stored for over 10 years after complete restoration commissioned by enthusiast owner. Restoration strictly preventative in nature. No structural issues found. Twin 318’s. Teak decks. Absolutely no issues. Economical - dependable. Dry bilge. NO rain leaks. NO rot. Requires nothing.
This is my seventh classic wood boat and second Trojan cruiser. Glory "B" is a unique boat that has been lovingly and professionally refinished. My wife and I moving up to a live-a-board retirement vessel we can commute to Florida.
The following is taken from a handwritten memo from the previous owner to his insurance company, dated Aug 8, 1985.
“My 31 foot Trojan Cabin Cruiser is presently being rebuilt at Port Whitby Marina. I am doing most of the work myself as I have previous experience rebuilding cruisers. I would like to emphasize that the majority of the refitting was not necessary from a structural point of view but is being done due to my desire to restore this boat to like new condition. Any areas that have deteriorated in the past are being replaced with new material which has been properly treated and caulked to prevent future problems.”
Repairs completed:
> Removed and replaced entire cabin roof
> Removed and replaced starboard cabin window frame
> Removed and replaced all material on starboard side of wheelhouse
> Removed and replaced all material on port side of wheelhouse
> Removed and replaced wheelhouse windshield and frame
> Removed and replaced all plywood teak decking and associated white oak framing. Four of eight frames replaced with new white oak material
> Original fir plywood decking replaced with mahogany plywood treated with West System epoxy
> New teak decks installed over mahogany plywood
> Splash rails removed and minor sections of planking on port and starboard sides replaced
> Port and starboard chine rails removed and inspected for problems. One starboard forward plank section removed and replaced
> Bow caps removed and inspected for problems. All plank ends found to be in good condition.
> Frame section below forward end of salon (potential issue identified in 1982 survey) replaced with new material
> Shear planks (port and starboard quarters) removed for access to deck framing. Two of six planks replaced
> New headliner installed in main salon and V-berth.
Additional Comments
In the winter of 2005-6, I had Aylings Marina in Merrickville ON install a fiberglass flybridge, including period correct controls. New head installed summer 2007. A couple of cosmetic details remain for the next owner which are to replace the exterior veneer on the salon doors, complete the installation of the headliner (materials provided) in the dinette and re-install minor interior and exterior trim pieces (provided).
The boat is currently lying on Big Rideau Lake and will be transiting the Rideau Locks to Manotick no later than Sept 12.
