New Yanmar, recently restored classic Kettenburg!!
The Kettenburg K-40 is 40' overall and carries 5000 lbs of lead ballast in her keel which is bronze bolted to her keel timber. She is constructed of 7/8" Philippine mahogany planks over steam bent oak frames. 10'4"' beam, 5'4"" draft. Sail area 556 square feet. The exquisite beauty of the K40's lines, its ideal size, its incredible feel of balance and speed, its sleek, narrow hull, its meticulous craftsmanship in wood and its silent, easy motion in a seaway combine to make it superior to all other yachts for sailing in California's waters.
Designed by Paul Kettenburg, and built at the renowned Kettenburg Boat Works on Shelter Island, HOMER ( formally Francis Caroline ) is the 31st boat of this design built in 1961 of Carvel planked Mahogany. Kettenburg boats are still recognized as the "Aristocrats of sail" on the Pacific Coast and represent the finest in West Coast yacht craftsmanship.
