Very nice 1981 Master Marine with a 2018 Suzuki 350! Ready to fish!
This 1981 MASTER MARINE 28 is a fabulous boat that was built specifically for fishing larger fish.
The history of the Master Marine boats is that in 1981 the moonies built a fleet of 60 boats called the good go series in Chatham Massachusetts; they were designed strictly to catch giant tuna by rod and reel and handline, and this boat has handline marks on the gunwalls from catching these giant fish to prove her worth!
A few years later, Trueword Marine took over the boat line with the huge flair in the bow. The company is currently located in South Carolina.
This particular 1981 Master Marine 28 has only had two (2) owners since her birth. The current owner purchased her in 2001, and has enjoyed fishing with her off the coast of eastern Long Island New York all these years.
In 2015 the current owner upgraded the boat with a custom built 70 gallon aluminum fuel tank that increased the boat total fuel capacity to 220 gallons. It is the current owner's understanding that the main fuel tank is also aluminum.
In 2018 the current owner proceeded to re-power the boat with an out-of-the-crate Suzuki DF350 4-stroke, dual prop engine; all new gauges related to the engine were installed as well. The total cost for this upgrade alone was just shy of $39k. Documentation is available
Electronics on board include a 12'' Garmin 1200 series with color screen, a 10" Furuno Model FCV 582 color screen with a 24 mile radius with dome antenna and a Standard Horizon VHF with long range antenna.
The stereo on board is a West Marine with two 9" Pioneer speakers.
The hard top is well constructed with extra heavy pipework and stanchions. Equipped with an overhead console. The backrest swings forward and back with footrest. Has a custom leaning post with storage under seat with two gold aluminum rod holders.
The boat has a live well with fresh sea water intake. Plenty of dry storage on board.
She also has Gold aluminum rocket launchers forward and aft. Sailfish outriggers and center riggers (Gold). The gunwale has provisions for up to (8) 130 Class rod holders, (6) Lee 50# to 80# swivel base rod holders and (2) Lee bolt on rod holders on hard top legs. A removable swivel battle station on the bow mounted with a 3' aluminum deck plate under the flooring.
Another nice feature is that she comes equipped with full canvass all around and includes dock lighting forward, port and starboard. For added security there are two bilge pumps: aft having 1500 GPH and forward with 500 GPH.
For those who want to travel to fish in various locations, there is a dual axle 2002 Sea Lion trailer for the boat.
The next owner of this gem of a fishing machine is going to be blessed for many years fishing with her in the same fashion the current owner has!
