Broad beamed (16'4") and well equipped this 1988 Hatteras 52 Convertible offers more to enjoy than some competitive models can mange in 54 or 55 fee. Thanks to it's grand proportions, both top-side and below the Hatteras 52 has become a sportfishing favorite. The modified Vee hull provides precise control in open water and added stability when you reach the fishing grounds. Its ergonomically designed helm station reduces reaching and straining, and is positioned for full visibility into the large cockpit.
The Hatteras 52 Convertible built during 1988-91 is actually an updated version of the original Hatteras 52 Convertible produced in 1984-87. Incorporating the company's "new-look" styling with reworked cabin windows and a new flybridge design, the result was a more aggressive-looking profile to go with the 52's already awesome offshore reputation. Built on a solid fiberglass hull with a wide 16'4" beam, Hatteras offered the 52 with a choice of interiors with the three-stateroom layout proving the more popular.
In this floor plan, the galley (with standard Sub-Zero refrigeration) and dinette are forward in the salon, and the amidships master stateroom was offered with twin single beds or a walkaround queen. Both heads have separate stall showers, and a stackable washer/dryer is located in the galley.
The big 153-square-foot cockpit of the Hatteras 52 includes a bait and tackle center, freezer, removable fish box, in-sole bait well, heavy-duty 30" transom door, and direct access to the engine room. On the flybridge, a U-shaped lounge can seat 6-8 people. The wide side decks are a plus. GM 720hp 8V92 diesels cruise in the low-to-mid 20s (26-27 knots wide open).
