By Mike GridleyThe market for bass fishing boats is as competitive as it gets. Most are fibreglass, but G3 takes a different path with their rugged aluminum Eagle Talon series, a great example of which is the 19 DLX.

Compared to fibreglass, these are extremely tough boats. Construction starts with a two-piece .100-gauge welded hull strengthened by both a full-length longitudinal stringer system and full-length centre keel extrusion, locked together with aluminum floors and decks. The injected closed cell foam dampens all of the water and hull sounds and there are few outboards as quiet as the Yamaha F150.

Beyond tough, the Eagle Talon 19 is ready to hunt bass, with two lockable rod boxes and two large storage compartments under the front deck. The step conceals a cooler and four tackle trays. Standard features include a Minn Kotta Maxxum 70 trolling motor, a three-bank battery charger and a Garmin Echo 200 Fishfinder at the helm and an Echo 100 forward. Aft, the 190 has a 33-gallon aerated livewell. Both the fore and aft decks have mounts for the standard folding fishing seats with screw-in poles.

The cockpit has three-across seating and the bases flip up to access additional storage. The helm features hydraulic steering, as well as Faria gauges for speed, tachometer, fuel and trim. Large rocker switches and breakers handle the electrical items and accessories.

For our on-water test we were able to experience everything from calm flat water to wind-driven chop and boat wakes. The Eagle Talon 19 DLX's handling and performance were impressive right up to the top speed of 54 mph. Acceleration was seat back pressing fast. Cutting through the chop, the ride was solid and dry, quite good for a modified-V hull with only 10 degrees of deadrise. Turns were razor sharp, with the Talon tracking crisply around without any sliding.

Delivered on a custom Eagle trailer with aluminum wheels and a custom cover, the G3 Eagle Talon 19 DLX is ready to be hooked up and towed to your favourite bass waters.
