By Matt SpencerPolar Kraft's model lineup is almost as varied and extensive as the fish they're built to chase. And while I have not had the luck of catching many different fish over the years, I have had the opportunity to try many different Polar Krafts. Most recently, I tested the Nor'Easter 179 WT.

This segment consists of two sizes in varying layouts, giving you seven different model options. The 179 walk-through features a full wrap windshield and a substantial 96-inch beam.

The line itself is for the simple fisherman that doesn’t need many bells and whistles. It's a pretty barebones package, but still provides the necessities. It comes standard with a trolling motor, a Lowrance fishfinder and a 25-gallon stern livewell -- just add your fishing gear and you're ready to go.

There is plenty of storage packed into this boat, including locking rod storage in the port gunwale, open storage on the starboard gunwale, and three storage compartments in the bow.

When you're talking about Polar Krafts, you want to talk about their footprint, which is quite impressive. This not only means more space inside the boat, but also added stability when you're not moving. When you are moving, it gives you the confidence to take the Nor'Easter to waters you might not take their competitors.

This boat ran like a champion. It was on plane almost instantly, thanks to the reverse chine hull. It was smooth and quiet and cornered exceptionally well, while still keeping water flow to the propeller. Extruded spray rails keep you dry, and the full windshield will play back-up if a spray does kick up.

Polar Kraft has an extensive model lineup because fishermen are as finicky as the little guys they chase. Each has specific wants and needs, and luckily Polar Kraft has a model for each. If you're a barebones, basic kind of angler who just wants to head out for some worry-free fishing, then the Polar Kraft Nor'Easter 179 might just be your ticket.
