By Matt SpencerWhen wakeboarding boats really came into their own, they sprung a whole new style of boats featuring extreme graphics, towers, board racks, awesome stereos and great swim platforms. Since then, many have put their own spin on them. The 2100 RX is Regal's take on watersports.

First and foremost, this 21-foot package of fun is a Regal, which means it has a host of features to stand out from the pack. Boarding the boat is easy as you step on the expansive swim platform that has the optional Flexiteek finish. There is a two-tier step system leading you towards a centre walkway.

Our test boat had the Titanium upholstery package, giving it a cool-as-ice look inside. Chrome accents along with diamond stitching really showed the quality and attention to detail that Regals are known for.

What was nice about this boat was how easily everything worked. The cockpit table wasn't a struggle, the under-seat cooler had gas struts, and the storage was smooth and accessible. And when it's time to break out the boards, you can stow them on the racks on the optional Power Tower. The Power Tower is a great feature for trailering, storage or even just getting under a low bridge. It lowers and raises the tower with the push of a button.

One of the elements that make a Regal a Regal is the FasTrac Hull, which offers up 26 per cent faster speeds and 30 per cent better fuel economy. Although our test day in Sarnia was a little grey, the teal blue water still enticed us to put the hull through its paces.

The MerCruiser 350 MAG provided great pulling power to get riders out of the hole. Once on plane, I was blown away by how smooth and nimble the 2100 RX was. It was whip sharp responsive and the hull was whisper quiet. Top speed was a white knuckled 52 mph.

With nine different power options, four colour choices and a list of features you'll love, opting for the Regal 2100 RX will be the easiest decision you'll make -- and making it yours will be the fun part.
