Somebody forgot to tell the team at Regal that a 32-footer is supposed to be a slow cruising, cushy boat. I’m glad they did. The 32 Express is a near perfect marriage of performance and comfort.

Zero to thirty miles per hour in less than 10 seconds in a boat this big is astounding. Itpops up onto plane like you’d expect from a small bowrider. If you want to push it flat out, depending on fuel load, passengers, gear and the conditions, you can easily crack 40mph without feeling like you’re actually pushing it. It just goes.

Handling, too, is more reminiscent of a sport boat than a sport yacht, banking deep into tight corners and holding speed. The 32 Express flies through the water and looks playfully at ease being whipped in and out of turns.

After using the joystick control to ease back into the slip you’ll be equally impressed at the attention to detail in terms of clever convertibility.

The portside bench has a seat back that can flop from forward facing to stern facing when you’re at the dock or on the hook. The same goes for the backrest on the rear bench-turned-sunpad that slides out to open up cockpit space or in to open up the already massive swim platform.

Regal has packed a mighty entertaining package into a relatively small cockpit space. A fridge, sink and grill are conveniently located on deck so you don’t have to venture below decks to entertain.

But when you do head downstairs, you’ll continue to be impressed.

The L-shaped bench seating across from the portside galley has extensions hidden underneath to extend to a berth or with the push of a button, the back of the bench furthest forward flips up to extend to an upper berth.

Mid-ship is the main sleeping quarters and features the only proper king size bed in this class “ an impressive feature for those eager to overnight but not keen on crushing into a small bed.
