New for 2016, Yamaha’s 242X E-Series is the company’s first wake sports-focused boat.

Built on the 24-foot hull launched last year, it features the Articulating Keel design “ a keel extension mechanism attached to one of the jet drives that helps with handling at speed and around the docks “ and Yamaha Quiet Cruise cutting down engine noise and vibration.

The 242X E-Series looks great in either Black or Space Blue options with colour matched upholstery. A brand-new tower with Bimini top covers the cockpit and solar panel chargers on top can add up to 30 percent battery charge.

The swim platform is both a massive staging area for the rider and a roomy lounger when anchored.Platform speakers, along with the ones on the tower and in the cockpit combine for an incredible 1,000 watts of sound that can be controlled from your phone.

Inside the cockpit is a ton of seating for the 12-person capacity boat including dual captain’s seats that can spin a full 180-degrees. There is room for a full-size cooler under the starboard bench.

Yamaha’sConnext systemmultifunction touchscreen display is a one-stop shop for everything from stereo controls to compass to detailed gauges. Perhaps most useful on this the watersports flagship is the GPS-based Yamaha Drive Control that allows you to set a target speed, acceleration as well as ballast controls featuring five programmable presets.

There are three ballast bags “ 50 gallons on both the portand starboardsides towards the stern and 100 gallons in the centre locker. You can adjust all three individually to craft your ideal wake.

The twin engines are certainly powerful with great acceleration “ as you’d expect with jets “ and while dual controls around the docks is handy, when you’re running about, you can set it for single throttle control.

With the quality performance you’ve come to expect from Yamaha, the 242X has all the avid amateur skier or wake boarder needs, plus it makes a comfortable day boat, too.
