From every angle, the Capri is truly a retro design. It picks up all the best lines and treatments of the Chris-Crafts of the 1920s and 30s. The design cues continue throughout with stainless plate at the bow, the inset teak treatment, the low curved windscreen and the forward section.

Aft, the long deck with teak walkthrough inset flanked by sun pads flows gracefully into the tumblehome hull. The stainless rub rail and trim on the swim platform accent and define the lines of this 21 footer perfectly. Other details set her apart like the sculptured bow light, inset stainless steel logo, the teak grab rails with stainless hardware.

Style and comfort also extend to the cockpit on the Capri 21 with room for five adults. The twin helm seats are fully adjustable with bolsters and a stylish stainless steel armrest and backrest support. The helm design’s centre stack layout is reminiscent of wooden boats and classic sports cars, and while it may not be the best location for instruments, it just works.

Like the helm seats, the bench seat is comfortable and beautifully finished, complete with armrests with cup holders and plenty of legroom for comfort. Naturally, there is storage in the base and the centre cushion is removable, uncovering a teak step for the walkthrough.

The Capri is a solidly built craft and with 350 hp from the MerCruiser 6.2 L her performance was more than respectable.

The Capri’s Deep-V, flared hull delivered a smooth dry ride through wakes and turns. The MerCruiser DTS was effortless and with the new electronic controls on the 6.2 L it holds the rpm steady regardless of the rate of turn.

Performance aside, most trips with the Capri 21 will be an easy cruise, perfect for enjoying the sights in a craft influenced by an era gone by.
