The Ventura is a unique and popular deck boat from Quebec-based Princecraft.

With very little bow rise, this boat pops onto plane. In just four and a half seconds it whips past 20 miles per hour and in just over six seconds its at 30 mph.

Cruising speed is around 30 miles per hour with the 175 Mercury Verado. I found as slow as 25 and as fast as 37 miles per hour equally pleasurable.

The high performance deep-V reverse chine hull of the Ventura means it has good lift out of the water and runs along smoothly at speed. It also means incredible handling for a deck boat and not the slide you get on some competitors’ models.

The bow walkthrough could be a sitting platform with handles and, of course, there is storage for gear or an anchor here. Just behind, the wrap-around forward benches have high backs and cup holders nearby, with plush and heavy weight upholstery that will last for years of loving wear and tear. Underneath you’ll find deep storage compartments.

The other seating area is the L-shaped bench that runs along the port side from midship back to the transom swim pad with a large, removable table. While in the walkthrough, under the windscreen, you’ll find cavernous storage in both console and the in floor ski locker.

The Ventura 220 WS comes standard with a 160-watt Jensen stereo but as tested we had the upgraded 200-watt Clarion. And further upping the entertaining options is the built-in floor cooler.

On the port console is another optional upgrade, the galley conversion with sink, faucet, water tank and pump.

The full-beam transom swim pad transforms to a walkthrough with a solid but simple rubber clasp and a hydraulic hinge to life the starboard section out of the way. And on the port side under the flip up sun pad section is even more storage.
Thanks to the entertainment package, there’s a small but functional swim platform here along with the ski tow pole wrapping around the Verado and bolstered captain’s chair.

The unique but stylish and aggressive lines of the Ventura line are accented with the optional but very handy flush-mounted halogen docking lights so you can be sure that you’ll stand out whether at the dock or running on the lake, during the day or at night!
