The Vogue pontoon line is the high-end offering from Quebec-based Princecraft and it ranges from 23 to 29. The 27 SE is just under 28-feet long and packed with luxurious features.

From the diamond stitched upholstery on the seats to the LED-lined bar, speakers and wake tower, to the 400-hp Mercury Verado, this boat is a well thought out, top of the line design.

There are four solid stools flanking the high bar with fridge and countertop to the stern on the port side. The removable table at the bow has a secure slot behind the helm so it doesn’t clutter up the multiple storage compartments. The helm has black pearl wood grain set into the moulded dash and a high-back adjustable bucket seat for the captain. All are home runs in terms of highly-functional high-style. Even the logo on the side is raised chrome and not simply a decal.

New for this year, Princecraft and SideshifttheCanadian manufacturer of bow- and stern-thrustersannounceda partnership. Now the retractable pontoon bow thruster, the PT230, is offered as a factory-installed optiona first for pontoon manufacturers.

With the performance configuration, the Vogue has under-deck spray shield, lifting strakes and the third log down the centre, which gives it a maximum rating of 400 hp. And the Mercury Verado 400R never disappoints.

Even with a big pontoon, you shoot across the water at 52 miles per hour. The minimal draft of the ‘toons translates to minimal drag and acceleration is blistering for a single-engine.

To top off the blistering performance, cushy luxury and clever design, this boat looks good too. You have the choice of Carbon Bronze, Silver Champagne or, as tested, Carbon Bronze for colours.

The Vogue 27 SE has the racing pedigree, with the Mercury Racing Verado 400R, but it also has the room and benefits to be comfortable. It’s just a shame they made me give this back.
