Finding a luxurious pontoon is not hard to do anymore. Most manufacturers have some top-of-the-line offerings, but generally you’re in the six-digit price range to get them. Not so with the Regency 254 LE3 Sport. For less than $90,000 CAD you can get a large, cushy and tricked out boat with a 250-hp Verado.

As tested, we had a Verado 300 Pro, which would up the price a little bit, admittedly.

It ran a little bow-high with the set-up without trimming the motor, but not enough to inhibit the captain’s view and it likely helped as I charged through boat wake to see how she handled chop. In short: very well. The length means you straddle multiple waves so there’s not much up and down bobbing, the lifting strakes mean the overall running experience has more lift and the wave deflectors help charge through the breaking wake.

The helm is one of the best I’ve seen on a pontoon. From Lowrance HDS-7 Gen3 GPS/Chartplotter/Fishfinder dead centre, to dual cupholders, to light up push-button switches for everything from lights to the automatic bimini, to a slot for your phone, this helm has it all.

The bimini goes up or down with the push of a button and also has a key fob to create some shade remotely before getting on board.

The stern-facing loungers have multiple storage compartments beneath and are comfy enough to snooze on, but with speakers and cupholders on each, you’re just as likely to party back here.

Overall the 254 LE3 looks slick both on board and from the dock. One of the things that will catch the eye of most is the powder-coated pontoons. The coatingmakes them more durable, easier to clean and more resistant to the staining and fading thatregular aluminum ‘toons are susceptibleto. It also looks great. Hit one of the switches that illuminate the blue LEDs running under the rail and put those pontoons on display.
