In 2014 Sea-Doo created a whole new category of personal watercraft when it introduced the Spark. Fast forward to 2017 and Sea-Doo is changing it further. Year one’s incredible success through 2015’s ramped up production and addition of the variable trim system (VTS), now Sea-Doo has gone full-bore into fun mode.

The all-new Spark Trixx is an evolution from watching owners and riders play around on the lightest Sea-Doo to a platform that facilitates playing around, and, obviously, tricks.

The VTS adjusts the jet nozzle spray up or down to raise or lower the bow has a hyper-extended range and, when in sport mode for instant acceleration and power, all you need to do is hit the throttle and the bow shoots out of the water.

The step wedges at the back of the footwells, before the swim platform, are angled to facilitate the tail-stand trick and countless others. That tail-stand is actually easy to perform within minutes of getting on the Trixx. If I can do it, you can do it.

The third major difference between this and the “regular” Spark is the adjustable aluminum handlebar riser. With a solid but simple clasp you can raise the handlebars to be up to 150mm (5.9 in) higher than other models. That gives leverage to try new tricks and manoeuvres.

The more time you spend on this, the more you’ll want to push it. That means you’re going to fall off at some point. It’s part of the fun.

Re-boarding is easy with the optional fold-down step. And the sturdy handles at the back of the seat mean you can pull yourself out of the water, put the key back on and get back at it.

Oh, and since it’s so new a lot of tricks are still being named. A tail-stand that lasts at least eight seconds, with one hand on the handlebar, and the other whipping around your head is hereby called a “Bull Ride”!
