The full name of this boat is the Classic Cruise 8524 Lounger DH Sport. It’s a bit unwieldy and most will just call it the 8524 LR DH, but it’s awfully descriptive. The DH is for dual helm and the twin high-back bucket seats that go along with it. One is on the raised helm for the captain and one on the port side for the passenger. The Lounger is for the comfortable benches both forward and aft and the Classic is for the overall look and style. Finally, the sport? Well, the 250-hp Yamaha takes care of that!

This is a popular pontoon line for good reason. It’s a true joy to drive and it offers everything you want, and expect, from this kind of boat.

My first check is always handling. Whether or not I consider a pontoon praise worthy depends on how pleasurable the driving experience is. This boat is smooth across the water, thanks to the long base that straddles waves and with high horsepower ratingsrdquo;a 300hp max on the tri-toon set-up and 175hp with double-toonrdquo;these SunChasers move at a good clip.

The turns are where this boat separates from the pack. It was a true joy cutting turns and banking sharply, or doing a surprisingly tight “donut” turn before continuing along. With the VMAX SHO outboard whirring away you can crack 45 miles per hour, which is always fun on a wide-open pontoon.

There are the standard features like under-seat storage, a raised helm and in-floor locker (thanks to that tri-toon design), but the bright splashes of colour on the upholstery and the shining speakers really pop even when at the dock. The speakers aren’t along the floor, but above the benches for better sound.

This pontoon takes the classic styles and layout, mixes it with years of manufacturing expertise and injects it with bursts of colour. That all adds up to one metric ton of fun on the water!
