The EdgeWater 262 Centre Console was designed and engineered for big water fishing. Ruggedly built using a closed-mould vacuum infusion process, the hull and composite stringers are chemically bonded in one piece. Then all spaces below deck are filled with closed-cell PVC foam. With non-skid self-bailing decks, the combined result is a remarkably solid boat.

Fishing specific features include seven-foot rod lockers, 28-gallon transom baitwell and twin 30 gallon in-floor fish boxes with electric pump-outs. The 262 was also designed for family cruising. The large bow seating area has comfortable cushions and forward-facing back rests. The forward entry console door has a built-in seat and swings wide open for easy access to a well-appointed walk-in head that includes a sink, shower and more storage. The back side of the leaning post features a stainless sink, cutting board and three storage drawers. There is even a side door and retractable ski post.

Our helm was dominated by dual 16-inch Garmin touch screen displays and a distortion free wrap around tempered glass windshield. The helm seats were beautifully appointed with flip up bolsters and flip down arm rests.

EdgeWater powers their boats exclusively with Yamaha outboards. The latest 2.8L four-cylinder F200 is over 100 pounds lighter than the old 3.3L V6 and a pair of them helped us get on plane in under six seconds with a top speed of over 51 miles per hour. Handling was precise for a 26-foot boat weighing 5,000 pounds. With such a deep V there is a fair bit of roll when turning, which helps balance the cornering forces. I never had to brace myself or reach for a grab handle, even while making fairly aggressive turns at 30 mph. The approach angle of this hull was sharp enough to slice through our camera boat’s wakes with ease, begging us for bigger water.
