If a first impression means anything, Formula has theirs dialed in. This 270 BR was sitting at the dock, gleaming… even while in the shade! Formula achieves an amazing depth and shine from their painted surfaces by applying a polyurethane Imron clear coat for durability. Then they polish, repeatedly.

The extraordinary refinement continues inside with beautiful two-tone luxurious double stitched vinyl on the consoles, seats and coaming. The bow has a versatile modular layout with removable centre cushions that convert the two forward lounges in to a space for four people to sit across from each other. Add the removable pedestal table for a perfect spot to eat.

Both consoles combine soft touch materials with darkened fibreglass, chrome and brushed metallic surfaces that generate a modern, athletic impression. The instrument panel on our test boat was well equipped with Livorsi gauges including a GPS speedo and Garmin GPS chart plotter.

The double-wide helm seat has a flip-up bolster and pivoting backrest. Without the optional wet bar, both the helm and passenger seats convert to opposing L-shaped lounges. The head compartment, behind the port console, is accessed by a concealed, locking door.
Our test boat had the Gray Wash woodgrain-finish flooring and the standard porta-potti, but you have the option to upgrade to a manual or VacuFlush toilet with a 13-gallon holding tank.

The extended swim platform is a nice option and works well with the rear-facing lounge that transforms to a large sunpad. A wraparound stainless grab bar encompasses the platform, helping to protect it.

Formula offers ten engine options on the 270 and our test boat was equipped with the 430-hp MerCruiser big block, coupled with the low RPM thrust of a Bravo III X drive. At over 6,000 pounds with a 22-degree deadrise, she’s no rocket out of the hole, but no slouch either. That offshore oriented hull utilizes a foam filled structural matrix and is chemically bonded and thru-bolted to the deck for a solid, but smooth ride.
