One look at a new Legend XTR and you can see the design team has been hard at work. The black and grey colour scheme is sharp and modern, accented by bold red and white graphics. The XTRs are ruggedly built with .100 gauge welded aluminum hulls, guaranteed to be leak proof for life.

At the top of the series is the 20 XTR and it comes loaded right from the factory. Standard features include a Humminbird Helix 5 Sonar GPS fishfinder, MotorGuide 54-inch wireless trolling motor, 37-gallon aerated livewell, lockable rod storage and LED interior lights.

The bow features a large casting deck with integrated storage, livewell and seat mount for a removable cockpit chair. The entire deck, gunwales and floors are covered in easy to clean Dura-Deck non-skid vinyl. There’s even a convenient engine trim switch at the bow if you happen to troll into shallow water.

The cockpit is sturdy and well laid out with sleek, black moulded consoles and dark woodgrain accents. The port console has a large, lockable glove box and cup holder. The wrapped steering wheel is comfortable as is the reclining helm seat. The tall windshield and stand-up soft top were much appreciated on our chilly October test day.

The most interesting feature of the 20 XTR is what Legend calls the “big water back end”. For those who like to fish on larger bodies of water, especially with downriggers, the two rear jump seats are removable to open up a small walk-in area to either side of the transom. This lets you get close to the sides while remaining low in the boat for added stability.

With a Mercury 150 XL on the transom, this boat is capable of 50 mph. Though, there is a fair bit of bow rise getting on plane with the bigger 150. Personally, I’d be tempted to opt for the 115 Pro XS. It’s less expensive, 90 pounds lighter and is a perfect match for the aggressive XTR graphics.
