Excellent ocean boat and very fuel efficient. Great fishing set up with rear steering station for Yamaha 9.9 kicker. Boat holds 206 gallons of fuel
Easy to handle, reliable, and gives a nice ride.
This really is a stable platform for all uses (except family camping) and I like the bench in the cockpit. The enclosed head is nice with the ladies aboard. I would have liked the newer model with the fold-down seat but it was out of the price range. I specifically looked at dual outboards for improved handling and reliability. (but higher maintenance costs and fuel use) If you look around you may be able to find an older hull that has been repowered recently. (mine had HPDI motors with 60 hours) and I paid about 43K. Prices should be much better now. It is a buyer's market for sure.
The Grady-White 268 Islander (called the 270 Islander in 2002, her last year of production) is a big trailerable walkaround cabin with the quality, comfort, and performance one expects of a GradyWhite product. She wasn't as popular as the Grady-White Sailfish
or Marlin, but the 268 can hold her own with anything in her class. With nearly 60 square feet of space, the Islander's uncluttered cockpit has plenty of space for two active anglers.
Standard features include an integrated swim platform, transom livewell, anchor locker, aft bench seat, insulated fish/storage boxes (2), transom door, lockable electronics box (helm), cockpit shower, tackle storage, raw-water washdown, gunnel rod holders (4), rod storage racks, cockpit lights, and trim tabs. Popular options included a factory hardtop, bow pulpit, trim tabs, and an auxiliary fuel tank.
Below, Spartan (as in no frills) cabin accommodations include an enclosed head with shower, compact galley with sink and refrigerator, and a convertible dinette/V-berth forward. A heavily built boat,
Twin Yamaha 225hp outboards top out between 40 and 45 knots.
